In Myrtle Beach, SC we have a LOT of vacation and rental properties with absentee owners. If you are an out of state owner with vacation and/or rental property in Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City, Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, or Pawleys Island, please be very careful when hiring contractors to work in your vacation and/or investment property. Over the years we have seen substandard work, contractors go out of business, and unsuspecting owners lose deposits.
The most important advice I offer is that when you need a professional plumber, PLEASE make sure you hire a professional plumbing company like Fogarty & Fogarty Plumbing Co., Inc. Hiring a maintenance company that is a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ is NOT the same as hiring a licensed plumbing contractor. To insure that our customers get what they are paying for, we only hire career plumbers! Professional plumbers may cost a bit more up front, but in the long run much more economical. When you hire someone who is not qualified to do the job, it usually ends up costing you much more to have it redone at a later date.
One of the easiest ways to locate a professional plumber is to call local plumbing supply houses and ask for a referral. Since most professionals buy from local supply houses, the supply houses know who has a great reputation and if they are in good financial standing. Most of your handyman don’t stock inventory and shop at Home Depot or Lowes every time they need materials for a job.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask for local references. If a plumbing company or plumber won’t give you this information, you must ask yourself ’why?’ and go with your instincts.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Big Box Stores and shop there myself on occasion when I want to be a “Do It Yourself ‘ er.” However, when I want the most reliable products and information, I deal with professionals.
Local Supply Houses:
Gateway Supply – 843-293-9372 (Rick, Andy, or Abbey)
Palmetto Parts – 843-444-0811 (Bill)
Winnelson – 843-293-7839 (Troy, Dana)
We are located in Murrells Inlet, SC and service Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas.
Out of state owners call us most often for clogged toilets, slow drains, condo ‘mystery’ leaks, high water bills, no hot water, busted water heaters, and jammed garbage disposals. We would love to have the opportunity to serve you.

It’s truly amazing what our plumbers at Fogarty & Fogarty Plumbing located in Murrells Inlet, SC find in clogged toilets. Within the last few weeks, The Plumber Who Cares has retrieved a few items from toilets that could not be retrieved until the toilet was pulled.
A cell phone – YES, we retrieved a cell phone from a clogged toilet in Garden City, SC! This was in a rental unit and no one claimed to have flushed the cell phone. If you ever drop your cell phone in the toilet, DO NOT FLUSH! Flushing caused the phone to lodge in the toilet trapway and it would not budge. Unfortunately, this was determined after breaking open the toilet.
Soap – Yes, soap can clog a toilet! We have come across several cleaning crews that have been guilty of flushing partial bars of soap, only to have them interfere in the flushing performance of the toilet. Soap that floats seem to cause the most problems. I’m certain we are not the only plumbing company in Myrtle Beach that has encountered this.
Popsicle stick – Small children should be supervised while in the bathroom. We have ‘rescued’ Polly Pocket dolls, McDonald’s toys, dinosaurs, and balls among other things over the years.
When you have a clogged toilet, it is very important to let the plumber know if anything was flushed that should not have been flushed. Giving a professional plumber all the pertinent information can save you a lot of money. Ordinarily plunging a clogged toilet is recommended. However, depending on the item flushed, it may not be wise to push the item further down the waste line.

When you hear the term old-fashioned, your first thought might be something outdated or no longer considered relevant.
However, at Fogarty & Fogarty Plumbing Co. , located in Murrells Inlet, SC, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Old-fashioned for us is preferring the customs of earlier times as it relates to service and quality.
Everyone knows what excellent customer service is, sadly it is harder and harder to come by. We believe every customer deserves first class service. For our customers, this means answering our telephones personally. We don’t use a national call center or an answering service. When scheduling service calls, our customers are given firm appointment times, not four hour windows. Our plumbers are in uniform and drive clean fully-lettered trucks. Every customer is treated with courtesy and respect. We realize we are an invited guest when we enter your home to perform plumbing services. Respect for your home and/or property is of the utmost importance to us.
Old-fashioned quality – remember when everything was made in America and produced with pride? Sadly, many companies are motivated by production and profits with little regard to long term value. As consumers, we are inundated with choices. Have you ever visited a big box store and had your eyes glaze over looking at all the options and choices? The average consumer does not see beyond appearance and cost. For example, the most important parts of a faucet are on the inside – something you do not see. Manufacturers offer professional grade products to plumbers. Unfortunately, some manufacturers will offer a DIY (Do It Yourself) grade to consumers. PLEASE – do not be fooled into thinking you are getting the same quality as a professional plumber. More often than not, these products are imports with plastic parts and pieces.
We believe in being competitive and offering our customers the best value. This means only using materials that are made to last. Buying cheaply made products only assures problems down the road.
Some have said we are old-fashioned because we have high standards and we still believe in doing the right thing. We believe values like integrity and honesty never go out of style.
Our values may seem old-fashioned to some, HOWEVER, our customers appreciate our old-fashioned service and quality!
